Misplaced jobs and random interviews

This week I am popular. I uploaded my resume to monster.com after I tried for another position and didn’t get it. I have been on a whirlwind adventure the last two days driving all over the metroplex! Two staffing agencies called me and wanted me to come out for “interview”. What they really meant was, come in, register with us and MAYBE we will find you a job that not only is close to where you live and not 18 miles from your house and that is suited for your qualifications (no I do not know how to do payroll).
Today I made arrangements to see a staffing company because they called me yesterday and said they wanted me to go out on an interview with one of their new clients. I go, fill out some paper work and then I discover that no, I would not be going on an interview today because the staffing agent had to go pick up her son at half day Kindergarten! Hello?! I got up early, showered, dressed and made myself all pretty to go out there. I asked my husband to please watch our son so I could possibly get a job. Needless to say I was irritated. I told them I was available to go out on an interview until 3PM because I had a doctors appt. and they could call me and I would drop what I was doing to go. No such luck. I ended up calling Debbi and having lunch with her and we snuck in a little bit of window shopping, so not all was lost. I did find a cute new shirt for only 8.99! 8.99 people! I am the queen of bargan shopping!

Off to the dermatologist for a follow-up. After some debate, we (the doc and me) decide to take a byopsy of a suspicious flesh colored custy bump on my right shoulder. I have a history of malignant melanoma so I want to be on the safe side and check it out before it becomes something like this. We also decided to just remove a couple more odd spots that have been there for a while, but seem to be changing slowly.

So, there ya go. I am popular. Popular with staffing agencies, squamous cell carcinomas, and phantom interviewers. Ahhh, life is good.

The day I first felt old

Today is the first day of school for our kids here in Texas. I know, it’s early huh? I am grateful the summer is over, but it’s bittersweet. Our oldest daughter is a 6th grader. She is ready to be a 6th grader, but I am not so sure I am ready for her to be a 6th grader. We went to her orientation on Monday night. Going through all her classes was a neat experience. Lauren and I went to use the restroom and when I looked in the mirror I felt like I was back in 6th grade myself. Have you ever looked at yourself and saw the “young” you? I don’t see her so often, but I still do. Then other times I catch a glimpse of myself and I look 10 years older! I mean, it’s not like I am all that old. I had Lauren when I was just barely 22. I got married when I was 20. In fact we just celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary, so I guess I am feeling a little old. But, I also remember what it was like being in middle school and it wasn’t the best experience, but a lot of good things happened too.  I guess all this reflecting and realizing I am a mother of a middle schooler is normal and all I really want is for my daughter to be happy and have a great school experience. It’s 8:28 right now and in 2 min. the bell will ring and I know exactly where she will be because we got to sit in her class with her and meet all her teachers. There is comfort in that.

Now, if could just look like a 6th grader I wouldn’t feel so old.....?

Weekly Update

Let’s try doing this. I have never done a weekly update before, so we’ll soon find out how many times I actually remember to do it! Here goes nothing.

Monday: Ummm...wow, that was 4 whole days ago. I don’t know if I can remember. I’ll try.....let’s see..I remember something about a dog and a sick me. Yeah, I wasn’t feeling so good, caught a head cold or sinus something or other. Took care of the new doggie...took way more pictures and crapped them all over the blog. Come on...you remember right?

Tuesday: I know..I lead a borning life. Did lots and lots of laundry...ok, so I didn’t do any laundry, but I thought about doing lots and lots. We did go swimming tho. That was fun. And refreshing.

Wednesday: More of the same. Fed and pooped the dog. Played with her a little too much and ended up at the animal clinic to get an E-collar for her.  She of course hated it. I went to choir and when I got back, she was all mopey and sad. I had to give her a pain pill just to get her to settle down. She also ended up sleeping on our bed from around 11pm to 5 am and it was like sleeping with a new born. Every time Jon farted moved, I thought it was Sadie barking. I would wake up suddenly and feel for her to make sure she wasn’t licking her incision. She woke me up at 5am by licking my face and I took her out to potty. Then I put her back in her crate until 10am. We both had a great morning nap.

Thursday: The mundaneness of my life is neverending, so we did more doggie care and doggie napping. I did watch a friends son, who loved him some video games w/ Dan! He was so engrossed he didn’t want lunch. I am thinking I need to take up gaming too. Sounds like a great diet! Went shopping for a new top for my job interview. Yes, you read that right, I have a job interview. Friday, 12:30. Keep your fingers crossed. Didn’t find anything for the interview, but did find a cute skirt to wear out on our double date. Went to Keno with a bunch of my girlfriends..I stole a cross in the second round from Debbi that I bought! I know, I am evil!  vampire

Today: Dog won’t go potty, threw up her food after she ate, her incision is red and swollen, need to get ready for interview, will take her to the vet at 2pm, and then leave her alone for 4 hours while we got out on our double date tonight while the kids are at parents night out. She better be ok...or I’ll....quit any other outside activities to nurse her back to health 24/7 until she is all healed**. I love her that much.

** for those of you who said dogs are too much trouble, just shut it. I know already. but I would still do it again! so rasberry

well that is my week in a nutshell. Sat. I have produce to pick up, baby shower to attend, and school clothes to buy. Sunday brings church, school registration swim party, night of praise concert with our choir. Next week will be busy as well, as the kids are getting ready to go back to school! Yay school!

We give up!

We give up!

We are home and oh so very tired. Sadie was such a good girl in the car on the way home. She adapted very well to her crate and even took a small nap in there while we ate dinner. Afterwards, I came in and laid down with a headache and she was quiet for over an hour! We did have a minor potty accident on Lauren! She kept jumping up on Lauren and licking her face while she sat on the armchair. I told her to get down and she was afraid to jump down so I went to pick her up and she pee-peed a little on Lauren’s leg. Lauren being the animal lover that she is, forgave little Sadie and changed her pants! Ha! She hasn’t eaten yet or had anything to drink since we were in the car, but has sure liked her liver treats and greenies bone. I think she will fit right in here in a bit. We are sure happy to have her. You can go here and look at her other portraits, as she is sure pretty pretty!

Seeing a Gal about a Dog

We’re about 40 miles from the Panola County Humane Society, where soon we’ll be picking up Mazie (aka Sadie) and hauling her back to humble Case de Stueve, where she will live out the rest of her days in comfort.

Pictures will be posted, and all will have a grand time.

Dixie Clarisse

**Update**

image

So I was searching around Petfinder.org and I came across a sweet girl named Mazie. We locked eyes and well several phone calls later and we are making arrangements to pick her up on Friday. I don’t want to jump the gun again like I did with the other dog, but she is near perfect if a dog can be that is. She is a pureblood beagle that was found wandering a country road near Carthage, TX and according to the foster family/human society woman who is taking care of her, she is a gem and very easy going, happy, loving dog. Great with kids, other dogs, and being around people. It’s obvious that whoever lost her, is heartbroken she is gone, because she is very much a wonderful family dog. I am beside myself with joy to have found the perfect girl for me. I have always wanted a beagle and know she will be a great addition to our family. Despite the reservations I have heard from family and friends about the woes of owning a dog, I am so up for the challenge and rewards of dog ownership. Here is a sneak peek of our girl....

We haven’t settled on a name yet, but I like Mazie Day (backwards version of Daisy May) and Jon likes Dixie Clarise. We are open to suggestions! Bubbles? Shasta? Cookie? Snickerdoole? Ginger?

Death by sucrose

I am looking into a new way of life. Sugar Coma. Ever heard of it? I just discovered it myself actually. Comine spaghetti, gooey butter cake in obscene amounts, and what’s left in your system from last night’s Ambien, and mix. Viola! Sugar Coma. Don’t be alarmed. I am ok for now. I expect it to completely take over any minute now.

Oh and here is another peice of advice. Don’t drink a half gallon of apple juice in less than 2 hours. Especially when your fridge’s water filter is removed because you need to change it and so the water that comes out of the fridge tastes like the water that you would pull out of your toilet on a hot day. And you are so thristy that your lips are all chapped and you haven’t been drinking much water because no matter what you flavor it with, it smells and tastes like your dog (if you had one) used it to rinse the stinky doggie breath out of his mouth, spit it into said toilet on a hot day. and toilet was outside. Yeah, that bad. Anywhooo...yeah and when you drink nearly that much apple juice and then eat dinner, don’t be surprised if you have to run to the bathroom every 5 min. I’m just saying this in case you were craving apple juice. in large quantities. Don’t. You’ll be glad you listened to me. Oh and we finally changed our water filter.....(Dan was complaining that it was taking forever!)...... Not a moment too soon, I was going resort to drinking milk or worse- coffee! I know, I know huh?!!

On a lighter note, I am going to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in concert on Friday with my very bestest, most favorite sister in all the world!! Well, ok, I only have one sister, but if I had more, she would be numero uno, the petite enchillada! :D I am so excited, I can’t wait! I only have a frillion and three things left to do before she gets here and yet, here I sit, in a sugar coma....well maybe not coma, but definately a sugar doze. nap? wotevah! Bring on the gooey butter cake/bars....with the stick of buttah and 4 cups of powdered sugar and 3 eggs AND a yellow cake mix! OHMYGOLLYGEE....yum-o!

well I am off for a snooze in my sugar boat....adios world.

*** disclaimer ***
Angie is not responsible for what ever non-sense comes out of her mouth when said butter bars are consumed. Who thought of those things anyways? The cake mafia?

M I C …K E Y….come on sing it with me

image
hat tip

Hey, psst! I’m over here. Yeah, over here, on the coffee table. Yeah, I know I should’t be standing on the coffee table because 1. it’s a bad example to my kids 2. I’m not exactly a feather weight and 3. well, there is no logic in number 3, I am just scared and freaking out! And you know what? It’s very hard to stand up here with my skirt pulled up past my knees screaming MOUSE!!! all night long! Yes, that’s right, I said mouse. Well, actually, that would be MICE, since there were two. OMG OMG OMG!!

I came home from choir and ice cream with some friends for a birthday celebration and was sitting on the couch watching TV. I got a wild hair about going and getting a blood glucose monitor at 11:30 at night, so off I go to the pharmacy. I came home and played around with it and tested my blood and Jon’s, mine was 107 and Jon’s was 120, both normal (which is good, as my doctor suspects I might have diabetes).

So I am sitting there watching TV and it’s now around 1 am or so and I hear a rustling noise. I look over in the direction of the kitchen and I see it. This pointy nose that darts out from behind a white basket of produce I had on the floor. I scream OMG! I saw a freakin’ mouse and as soon as I did, it disappeared! Jon being the brave manly man he is, goes over and removes everything (some plastic grocery bags, the basket, some small trash can’s we used for the computer desk and such) and sees nothing. I insist I saw one and he says he believes me. I am absolutly freaking out because oh shit, the gerbil must have escaped and I had a flash of chopping Oreo’s head off with a clever just then and I can’t do that to my daughters class pet! I run into her room to check on the gerbil and I don’t see it right away, so I tap on the cage. Sure enough, she pokes her head out of the mound of bedding and looks at me like, what the ????! what? do? you? want.  I sigh relief that turns into panic again at the thought of another rodent, whom I don’t know and clean out it’s cage, is scurring around my kitchen! So we sit. We wait and out it comes again. This time, all the way out. From underneath the penninsula and the cabinet there, this pointy little head pokes out and then front paws, then back legs, then the 7ft. tail. Well, no not really 7ft, but darn near 7 in. tail on that little tiny thing.

Two bad hair days in a row

Oy. Thank God for hats!
VBS is over, now we are 2 days in to VBS Music Camp and we have 47 kids participating! What a blessing and how cool is that?! I don’t think we have ever had that many kids particiapte in an outreach ministry in a long time.
The kids and I went swimming at a friends pool yesterday and it was fun… I was so tired..  I came home and slept for 3 hours. Poor Jon.. he tried to wake me up..but no. I was comatose.

Not much else going on here. Kind of boring actually. I need to buy groceries. I need to work out and definately no more ice cream. smile

Sunburn shumburn

First burn of the summer. We belong to the Texas Pool and today was opening day!! Memorial Day weekend is always when the pool opens in the summer. We had a good time and everyone got a little sunburn. I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible because I get sunburn soooo badly! Myself and Michael were the only one who didn’t get pink. I stayed white and Michael is brown. Brown, brown, brown. I hate him. ( I really do love him, but it makes me mad that a child who came from my DNA who tans and I don’t!!!) Ok, I’m done.

We plan on being at the pool a lot, lot, lot.  So, if you don’t hear from us for a few days, check the pool and say hi. We’ll be there. Oh and since all of our shows are done for the season....it might be a tad slow here! :D

Toodles!

Ben & Jerry

Well known Ben and long time partner Jerry were last seen at the home of Mom of 4 somewhere in Texas. Angie spent most of her day knee deep in dirreah and upset tummies so after careful consideration, and much decision, Black and Tan was chosen and Pistachio Pistachio was deemed worthy of comfort. Oh not for the upset tummies, but for Angie who has decided to change her name and move to Nova Scotia to live out the rest of her days with the Mooses (isn’t Moose already plural?) and cute little snowshoes she got on sale.

Don’t worry America, she will still be an american, but like Allie Martell, she will henceforth be known as an Canarican.

I’m Chet Youbetcha, over and out.

Padded rooms will be available upon request.
